Oh My!

My photograph cannot do it justice, so just come and see it from December 7th.

The dust sheets are coming off, the vacuum cleaners are ready, carpet fitters are poised and… what a place to do a little toil !!! I think we’ll be the luckiest cleaners ever.

Before the internal scaffolding came down yesterday the professional photographer was there to record the window in detail. He will be coming back later to get the full window and the sections for which the scaffolding was in the way. I will put photos on the website as soon as I get them.

I did get a few close-ups too though and I am sharing some of the gorgeous detail below, especially for those of you who aren’t close enough to visit. The colours are totally stunning.

Tom is going to write out an explanation of the inspiration for the whole window and each smaller tracery and section which we will use to caption all the photographs we use in the memorial book. There is so much going on and so many layers - perhaps you can make out the shape that the lead work also makes? (it’s particularly visible from outside).

On which note, we are getting excited about the content now. As well as recording the donors and the wonderfully varied personal memorials, we can include sections on the history and making of the window and then, very importantly, we will also publish a smaller version of the book at an affordable price. I will have a draft version of the book ready for the dedication on the 9th February, after which it can be finalised ready for installation near the window.
